Renée N. Vara is the Director of VARA FINE ARTS - a full service art advisory firm specializing in 20th century, contemporary and emerging art and design. For over a decade, Renée was the National Fine Arts Specialist at Chubb Insurance, where she served as private curator and collection manager for Artnews Magazine's "Top 100 Collectors" with collections valued up to $1 Billion.
As an expert, Renée has been cited in publications including Forbes, The New York Times, Dow Jones, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Artnews, Art & Antiques, CNN, Town and Country, US News and World Report, Crain’s and many others.
She has been a Professor at NYU's Appraisal, Museum Studies and Art History programs for over a decade. She has also served as a Lecturer at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In 2011, she was appointed an Adjunct Faculty Member at Sotheby’s Institute.
She actively works within the marketplace and supports nonprofit art organizations. She supports women in the arts as a member of the Board of Directors of POWarts, setting art appraisal standards in the industry as a second-term Board Member for the Appraisers Association of America, and acts as the Creative Director for the avant-garde art journal, INPUT Journal.
She is a Certified Appraiser and valuation expert, a collection manager who regularly curates international emerging art shows at fairs and venues around the world including Art Basel | Miami Beach, Scope, Frieze, and the Istanbul Biennial. As she regularly attends international fairs, auctions, lectures and art events – her blog intends to give you current
information, critiques and insider’s glimpse to the art world.
